The Lindblom Pom Pon team is back in action. For the first time in years, the Poms team has actually made it all the way to basketball season. Usually, the Pom Pon team is seen during football season and that’s the end of their season. The captains, Kayla C. and Marielle C., were determined to end this “yearly ritual”. The Poms team first performance was at the first home basketball game where the Lindblom Eagles played against the Harper Cardinals. The crowd went wild for the young dancers. The Pom Pon team plans to perform at every home game. They believe in entertaining the best way they know how. After pep rally, homecoming week, people have fallen in love with the poms team. Normally people get tired of watching the same team perform, but people are actually excited to see what this group of girls has in store this time. After the Lindblom’s Poms season got cut short in 2010-2011 school year, the poms team just hasn’t been the same. The girls are very cautious as to what they do and wear. They refuse to have a short season for little mishaps. These girls love to dance and it is very apparent each time they perform in front of the crowd. Who knows what the poms team is up to this time. These girls are unpredictable, but in a good way. Just stay on the look out for what’s coming up next from the team of girls. You don’t want to miss out on the amazing show they give.
By Michael Charles On Wednesday, December 11, the Eagles hosted the Harper Cardinals. The gym was filled to capacity with fans. Some might say that this is the most school spirit that Lindblom basketball has seen since the 2010’s Basketball team that captured a Sectional Championship. The Chicago Sun-Times had picked the Cardinals to finish conference play as the number one team and the Lindblom Eagles as dead last. There was a sense that the Eagles had something to prove with the amount focus on their faces. Their passes were crisp, their cuts to the basket were hard and most of all they played with such intensity on defense to hold the Cardinals to 37 points. The Eagles took an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back and captured a 47-37 victory over the Cardinals. Senior Guards Mike Charles led the Eagles with 22 points. when asked about the game he responded “ It feels good to get a win in our house in front of our fans”. The Eagles were able to capture another win in the Nest last night over the Robeson high school. The Eagles lead from start to finish. The final score was 44-66, the Eagles improve their conference play record to 2-1. The next home game for the Eagles will be on Friday December 20, 2013 against Philips Wildcats. |
