Sure, the draft is still six weeks away, but it's never too soon to start guessing:
2013 NFL Mock Draft, Take One
This is the first of three mock drafts. These mock drafts will include hypothetical trades as well as real trades made by teams. All trades will be denoted in italics.
1. Kansas City Chiefs – Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
The Chiefs already have their QB in Alex Smith. They’re really in a position to get the best player available. Luke Joeckel is the best offensive tackle in the draft…for now. Word is that the Chiefs are starting to see Joeckel and Central Michigan’s Eric Fisher as neck and neck. Andy Reid loves his offensive lineman even more than he loves his quarterbacks, so one of them will probably get selected here.
2. San Francisco 49ers – Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
First, San Francisco has the ammo to pull this off. They have 15 picks throughout the draft. 15! On a team that went to the Super Bowl. I have them trading pick 31, 34 from the Kansas City Chiefs, pick 74 from the Carolina Panthers and their 6th round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for the number 2 pick. Anyway, Sharrif Floyd is by far the best defensive tackle in the draft. He can both rush the passer effectively as well as clog up the middle of the field. He would make a 49ers defense even more intimidating and dangerous, if that’s possible.
3. Buffalo Bills – Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon
Back to back trades? Can it be? The Raiders are desperate for mid round picks and can afford to move down a couple of slots. The Bills send pick 8, 71 and their 5thround pick over to Oakland to get Dion Jordan. Jordan is a freak athlete, running a 4.6 40 time at 6’7”, 250 pounds. Jordan will make Mario Williams a better player by allowing him to just rush the passer all day.
