Why do some of the high schoolers and teachers in Lindblom dislike the Academic Students? Some are loud, disrespectful, and immature. True, but not all. It isn’t fair that most of the students and staff think so lowly of all the ackies. In the hallways, older students have given dirty looks to 7th and 8th grade students walking around with their friends, or having a good laugh in the lunchroom. Sometimes we aren’t even doing anything wrong.
Part of this is our fault because there are a lot of ackies that are loud and immature to each other and the staff. This is something that can’t really be controlled. Not that it’s impossible, but the students won’t listen either way. We’re stubborn, but we can decrease the amount of disrespect we give the staff. Every day, after breakfast and lunch, students leave their trash and leftovers, mostly from the ackies. And yes, it’s true that it’s the janitor’s job to clean up, but it isn’t fair that we leave extra work for them. Every day, the janitorial and cleaning staff have to come in before and after school to clean up after us, and even during school. They don’t deserve to do extra work, especially since their pay has been cut. All of the problems aren’t from the Academic Center, but most are.
Throughout the school day, some of the ackies act very immature and inappropriate. There are students already becoming “boyfriend and girlfriend”. Why are we rushing these things? We come to school to learn, and socialize too, but mainly learn. Not to become couples at early ages! Some students also act very inappropriate, including inappropriate noises and gestures, which is not right. We are too young for people to already look down on us, and we should put a stop to this. I’m pretty sure the 7th and 8th graders don’t like the high schoolers judging us the moment we walk into the room, so we need to cut down on the immaturity and start acting our age.
