Since the first week of school, the JROTC department has implemented new changes and rules making for a strong start to the new school year. The new JROTC staff introduced themselves as well as their positions to the LMSA cadets on the first day. They also announced new rules that were created over the summer and are planned to be implemented into the new curriculum. The drill team also set new rules and chose a new platoon leader, Senior Cadet Loreal Anderson.
The drill team is scheduled to start off with their first competition of the year in November and two in December, with practices regularly on Mondays and Thursdays. Staff Sgt. Lawson says that he is “extremely excited about the progress of the drill team so far and [he] knows that they will do even better than last year.”
The JROTC department is excited to host several events here at the school and off campus. The JROTC department will be hosting its annual Lock in, the Bank of America Marathon, as well as the celebration of Staff Sgt. Lawson’s birthday during the month of October.
Preparations are underway and the cadets are very excited, especially our seniors.
Senior Cadet Jada Brown, who is a drill team member, said “I’m so excited, especially with it being my last year here at Lindblom. I’m ready for the annual Bank of America marathon, Military Ball and Drill competition”.
With preparations in progress and the events approaching quickly, the cadets are eager and ready for an outstanding year.
