The Lindblom team had a phenomenal tournament. Three junior varsity teams had preliminary records of four wins and one losses. Due to tiebreakers, they did not advance into the elimination rounds but two junior varsity debaters were recognized with individual speaker awards. Erin Nwachukwu was the fifth place speaker and Abisola Olawale was the fourth place speaker.
In the varsity division, Chad Tucker was the sixth place speaker, with Donald Rapier taking third place and Kaylen Herring earning top varsity speaker. Chad and his partner, Victoria Susberry, were eliminated in the quarter finals by a pair from Von Steuben. Donald and Kaylen advanced all the way to the finals before falling in a split decision to the same Von Steuben pair.
Donald and Kaylen, as a result of their success, will participate in a qualifier tournament this coming Saturday that will send the two top CDL teams to the urban debate championship in Los Angeles.
Also, huge thanks to Esther Song for helping out on Friday night and to security, custodial, and engineering for their hard work.
