The new semester means more than just a fresh start for Lindblom students; it also means a new schedule we will have to cope with. With the new schedule school starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. and there are no longer seminars every day. Another change made to the schedule is the colloquium days, which are now as long at regular school days. Lindblom was unique with the colloquium schedule, now we’re just like all other high schools. Starting a new schedule in the middle of the year can cause confusion, but we should be able to cope and have a smooth transition. There are mixed feelings about the schedule time changes, junior Glen Smith said “I would rather not have such a long colloquium day but I’m happy to be getting out at 3:15 p.m.”
Justice McFarland (junior) said she prefers to get our 30 minutes earlier and not having to go to seminars, but doesn’t want to wake up early for colloquium.
Not everyone hates the schedule change though. “I’m glad we are back on the normal schedule. I missed getting out of school around 3:15 p.m.,” Elyse Hill (junior) said.
Many students are not happy about the changes to the colloquium day though, when asked, senior Taylor Tyler said “I think that the schedule kind of sucks. I will deeply miss getting our early and starting late on Wednesdays, R.I.P to 10 a.m. to 2:46 p.m. colloquium days.”
Junior Shelby Perzanowski said the new schedule is better than first semester’s because seminars “were a waste of time.” LMSA has not had colloquium as long as a regular day since it was reopened in 2005 and might be a hard adjustment. The new schedule is not fully accepted among the students but appears to be here to stay.
