The class of 2014 was outraged to find out about prom ticket prices. At 125 dollars, seniors think that is too much. Many students didn’t participate in the big senior class fundraiser which previous classes have used to raise a lot of money. The Innisbrook fundraiser has helped many classes in the past bring down their senior fees, but this year, no one took it seriously.
The Innisbrook fundraiser was supposed to be the biggest senior class fundraiser, but less than half of the class participated in it. Some students argue that the fundraiser wasn’t convenient because no one wanted to buy the items in the catalog.
Nick Simpson, senior, said, “I don’t want wrapping paper. That’s what was in those catalogs. What am I or my family going to do with wrapping paper?” There was also a catalog that was selling chocolate, but it was over priced. Many items in the catalogs were expensive which could be bought at the store for a cheaper price.
Brandon Peralta, senior, thinks that the class of 2014 should do a fundraiser that everyone would actually want to participate in. “I think that having a bake sale or something where we can sell food would be a good way to bring in money. There are always people who want food.”
A senior who wanted to remain anonymous said, “I feel like Ms. Davis isn’t open to our ideas. She restricting our ideas to how she believes things should be run.”
There is still time to lower the price of prom tickets, but the senior class needs to come together and help raise money.
