Lindblom’s band and choir students filled the auditorium with joy as they performed in the winter concert Thursday night. It was known to the audience that the music teachers greatly prepared Lindblom students to put on an amazing show. During the concert, Lindblom’s band, faculty, and choir formed in ensembles that brought more creativity to the performance. With the band joined by faculty members and selected band members performing with the choir, many would say the concert was a success. “This has been the most successful collaborative effort in combining both choral and instrumental music here at Lindblom thus far. We’re privileged to work with such committed students and a staff dedicated to supporting arts education “says band teacher, Mr. Wall. This is the first year Mr. Wall has been teaching at Lindblom and everyone is impressed by the band. “The Band sounded great and each selection was extremely captivating”, says senior, Terri McFadden.
The audience was also impressed by the music performed--which included various languages, soloist, and movement. Audience members raised out of their seats smiling as all of the choirs joined together to perform the last song selection, “This Christmas”. In tribute of Nelson Mandela, the South African National Anthem, “Nkosi Sikeleli Afrika” was also performed. The performance in Keeler Hall set an example of how hard Lindblom students worked to prepare a great show. “I am extremely proud of all of my students. I think each of the choirs made tremendous progress since the beginning of the year in performing with musical nuance and expressivity. Well done”, exclaimed choir teacher, Mr.Fuess.
