The queen, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter or “Mrs. Carter,” is at it again! Beyoncé never fails at keeping her fans happy.
After getting married, having a child, and currently on her second world tour this year, Beyoncé shocked her fans and the world! On Friday, December 13, at midnight, Beyoncé dropped a surprise, straight-to-iTunes album which is the fastest selling album to ever hit iTunes. Beyoncé’s fifth studio album, “Beyoncé”, is referred to as a “visual album,” containing 14 songs and 17 videos that were recorded while traveling the world on her second Mrs. Carter World Tour. This album features Drake, Jay Z, Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, and her two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.
Without any public marketing for the album, except for on social media after the surprise album dropped, Beyoncé sold 828,773 copies over its first weekend! This is her second best album selling record next to her second studio album, B’Day, which sold 541,000 copies after the first week of its release in 2006.
"Beyoncé" is currently only available on iTunes for $15.99 as a package. Songs are not available for individual purchase until December 20, 2013. Physical copies are expected to be in stores by Christmas.
