New teachers, programs bring creativity to Fine Arts
By Teresa Nicholson
The Lindblom Fine Arts department has been an creative outlet for all Lindblom art students. Creativity is highly encouraged by all of the art teachers. And the main focus is pure experimentation. As long as the students are willing to be open-minded and try new techniques they will have an amazing experience.
“This year two new amazing art teachers, Ms.Walrath and Ms. Lesser, joined the art department,” said long-time art teacher Ms. Strang. Lindblom welcomes all the new staff members, and it will be exciting to see what the new members bring to the table.
There are always creative opportunities provided for aspiring students who would like to expand their abilities outside of school. A few great programs that are provided are Marwen and Gallery 37. These programs specifically target the development of artistic skills. They give the students an opportunity to find out which areas they feel comfortable creating in, and an opportunity to earn money doing something fun. If you have any interest in finding out more about these programs, see Ms. Boudreau. Don’t hesitate to ask some of the students about their past experiences with the programs either.
Pieces created by the students can be found all around the school. The students were encouraged to explore various mediums including three-dimensional sculpture and two-dimensional drawings. Students spend time creating the pieces and then finding spaces around the school in which they feel the pieces can visually communicate the best.
However, the focus is not solely on visual appeal; it is about the experience and the emotion that the piece evokes. Touring around Lindblom, creative, bold, colorful works of art catch the eye and spark interest and emotion in viewers.
Don’t just take my word for it; explore the school, and take a look at some of their work.
